JD(S) Women’s Wing Chief Among 4 Held For Kidnapping Realtor

Bengaluru: ​The ​Yelahanka police nabbed four people including the chief of JD(S) women’s wing, on charges for abducting a realtor for a ransom of Rs 100 crore.

The arrested are state president of JD(S) women wing, Arshiya Ali (37), Renuka Prasad (41) her neighbour, HBR Layout resident Kantharaj Gowda (30), and Horamavu resident Pradeep alias Prateesh (32). The JD (S) sacked Arshiya soom after the arrest.

Mallikarjuna alias Mallanna abducted by the gang from Kogilu cross, Yelahanka.

Gowda had borrowed money from the realtor, it is learnt.

Gowda also had some financial dealings with Arshiya and Renuka Prasad. They hatched a planned to kidnap Mallikarjun as all of them were in financial crisis.

“On January 11, Mallikarjun had come to a nearby park at Kogilu Cross for his morning walk and Gowda along with his car driver Pradeep approached him, threatening him with a pistol,” a police official was quoted by the New Indian Express as saying.

The gang locked him up in a room near Kolar after kidnapping. Later, they placed a ransom call to the family members for a bounty of Rs 100 crore.

Mallikarjun's son Ravikumar struck a deal with the gang for Rs 60 lakhs. Soon after, the gang freed Mallikarjun who filed a police complaint.

Using the CCTV images, the cops traced the car and also tracked the location using call record data. The cops later picked up all the culprits.
