JC Prabhakar ropes in cheergirls for Ganesh festivities - Sakshi Post

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great revelry and during the ten-day celebrations leading to immersion, a host of programmes are usually lined up in towns and villages across the state. Devotional songs, loud music and dancing by devotees is the norm everywhere. Large idols are paraded through the streets and are accompanied by people dancing and singing on their way to immersion.

But political leaders try to outdo each other even when it comes to matters related to God and spirituality.
While dancing is a part of revelry that accompanies Ganesh Chaturthi festivities people usually dance to devotional songs, but Tadipatri legislator J.C. Diwakar Reddy's brother and former municipal chairman J.C. Prabhakar Reddy has a different idea of what constitutes celebration and revelry.
According to reliable sources,  J.C. Prabhakar Reddy had spent Rs. 50 lakhs on the idol that he installed. Of course, for a man of his means spending such a huge amount may mean nothing. But what has shocked everybody and has outraged public sensibility is the fact that he got cheergirls to perform dances on the occasion. The cheer girls, who came from Mumbai and West Godavari danced to item numbers, much to the disapproval of the public.
The dance performance continued on Saturday till midnight. Genuine devotees were very upset with the way in which J.C. Prabhakar Reddy had trivialized such a pious occasion and vulgarized its sanctity.
