Jayasudha quits Congress, to Join TDP
Hyderabad: Tollywood's senior actress and former Secunderabad MLA Jayasudha on Saturday resigned from Congress party. She is going to join Telugu Desam Party this evening in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
During her tenure as MLA from 2009 to 2014, her relations with the party cadres had not gone along well in her constituency. Her differences with Banda Karthika Reddy, former Hyderabad mayor and a corporator from Tarnaka which falls under Secunderabad came to the fore on several occasions.
After being defeated in 2014 elections from the same constituency, Jayasudha remained inactive in politics. She got third position in the election as TRS candidate T. Padma Rao won the constituency. As Congress is again promoting Karthika Reddy for the mayor post in the current election, Jayasudha decided to call it quits with Congress. She joined politics with her entry into the Congress party mainly because of the able administration and people-friendly government of the late Dr. YS Rajashekar Reddy sometime before the elections. She won the election on the charismatic spell of Dr Rajashekar Reddy at the time. She hardly developed any following in the party at least within her constituency.
Jayasudha was also defeated in the Movie Artistes Association (MAA) election last year despite her fervent campaign against actor Rajendra Prasad who won eventually.
