Jaya Bachchan Is SP Nominee To Rajya Sabha
Lucknow: Former actress and current parliamentarian, Jaya Bachchan has been nominated by the Samajwadi Party as the party's candidate for the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh. Bachchan, who is a three-time MP, was first elected to the Upper House as a nominee of SP in 2004 and was a member till March 2006. In June 2006, she was re-elected to RS and again in 2012 for a third term.
This time around other senior leaders of the party including Naresh Aggarwal could not make the cut. In all ten seats from UP are to be filled up in the upcoming elections to the Upper House.
Meanwhile, Mayawati's BSP has already announced that a former MLA of the party, Bhimrao Ambedkar, will be fielded for the Rajya Sabha. Hailing from Etawah, Ambedkar, who hails from Etawah, was a legislator from the Lakhna Assembly constituency.
