Jagan's bail hearing adjourned to 18 September

Jagan's bail hearing adjourned to 18 September - Sakshi Post

A special court on Thursday adjourned the hearing on the bail petition of Kadapa MP and YSR Congress President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to September 18.

The court adjourned the petition as the CBI counsel sought time to file counter petition in this connection.

The court directed the central agency to file its counter before September 18 and adjourned the matter. Jagan yesterday moved the special CBI court seeking bail on the ground that the four-month deadline set by the Supreme Court for completion of investigation by the CBI into the case against him ended on September 9.

In the bail plea, filed through his counsel, Jagan said that in view of the ongoing agitation in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions regarding bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, there was a need for him to be with the people and lead the stir as a leader of a political party.

Jagan Mohan Reddy told the court that he has been in judicial remand for more than 15 months now and that he has not hampered the CBI investigation in any way.
He sought the bail as per the directions of the Supreme Court's verdict which asked him to apply for bail after the CBI completes its probe in his case.

The  Supreme Court, while rejecting Jagan's bail plea in May, had said the petitioner can move the trial court for the bail after the completion of investigations.

The CBI on Tuesday filed three chargesheets in the case as the deadline set by the Supreme Court ended.

Jagan is lodged in Chanchalguda Jail since his arrest by the CBI on May 27, 2012.
