Jagan optimistic on President's proactive role - Sakshi Post

YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy called on President Pranab Mukherjee and urged him to keep Andhra Pradesh united.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, he said the President gave them a patient hearing.
According to Jagan, his party stance was apprised to the President in a 5-page memorandum.

"Congress is indulging in the State division in a unilateral way, without taking even the opinion of legislative Assembly and also the stakeholders. The nation should not be affected by the Congress's unconstitutional methodology of dividing the States," he said. Referring to their note to the President, he said that the President was also informed of the inevitable upsurge of water disputes with the division.

"Pranab ji was also apprised on how Congress has been moving ahead with the process while overlooking Article 371 (D) and (E) of  constitution," he added.

As per the schedule, Jagan also met JD (U) president Sharad Yadav to seek his support to YSR CP's struggle to keep the state united.

Sharing the details of his meeting with Sharad Yadav, Jagan said " I had spoken to him and convinced him on the need that Article 3 should be amended. If Article 3 of the Constitution is not amended, what is happening in Andhra Pradesh would happen in other states as well. Anybody with a 272 majority in Lok Sabha can draw a line and split states."

Continuing his efforts, Jagan will meet Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhuvaneswar tomorrow and appeal for his support. On Monday, he will fly to Mumbai and meet NCP leader, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar with a plea to extend support to his efforts to stop the bifurcation of the state.
