Jagan Lashes Out At Govt Over ‘Shocking’ Power Bills

Opposition Leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Assembly - Sakshi Post

Amaravati: YSR Congress Party chief, Leader of Opposition in AP Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday lashed out at the government for ever-increasing power bills which are giving shock to the poorer sections of society.

Responding on the government's claim that SCs and STs are being waived off power bills for usage under 50 units, Jagan said the claim was false and the actual situation is exactly opposite.

"SC and STs and other poorer sections used to get Rs150 power earlier. After Chandrababu Naidu became Chief Minister, they are getting Rs500-600 and the power bills are giving them shock. But the government is claiming that they are being given free power. Only Rs54 crore is allotted towards power subsidy to SCs and Rs18.5 crore to STs which is nothing more than alms. We demand quality power to the poorer sections by allotting more funds," the Opposition Leader said.
