Jagan flays State government for inaction
Rounding off his two-day visit of the cyclone affected areas; YS Jagan Mohan flayed the State Government for its callous manner in attending to the needs of the farmers in distress and demanded immediate compensation besides other relief measures.
“We demand that the State Government should pay a compensation of Rs 10,000 per acre to the farmers who lost their crops, waive all loans and provide new ones besides providing input subsidy for the next crop,” he said after consoling the farmers who lost crops and livelihood at Saarva and Lakshmanaeswaram villages of Narsapuram mandal.
The Congress Government has always been found wanting when it comes to safeguarding the farmers’ interests and this time around it was no different. When the locals had poured their woes, Jagan has assured them that within four months YSRCP will come to power and farmers’ welfare will be of top priority.
He talked to affected people, farmers and fishermen and was moved by their plight. They told him that none of the welfare schemes, pensions, Aarogyasri was being implemented properly. He gave a patient hearing to them and asked them of the details of amount they invested and the total amount they lost due to the cyclone.
He visited the ravaged fields and damaged houses. He also met and consoled an ailing old person Pendra Sai and enquired about his well being.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has postponed his Samaikhya Sankharavam bus yatra to November 30 to undertake the two-day tour of East and West Godavari districts which were badly hit by the cyclone.
He castigated the Government for being indifferent even during such emergencies and demanded adequate compensation and waiver of loans. He told the people in both the districts that farmers would reap rich harvests after YSRCP comes to power as agriculture is one of the top priority sectors in the Party agenda.
