It Was YSR Who Secured Permissions For Polavaram, Not Chandrababu: KVP
Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader KVP Ramachandra Rao has slammed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of peddling untruths about Polavaram project. He said all the permissions for the prestigious inter-state multi-purpose project were secured during late Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy's rule. He said Chandrababu Naidu had never spoken about the project during his nine-year-tenure as the Chief Minister of the undivided Andhra Pradesh.
In a hard-hitting open letter to Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday, KVP Ramachandra Rao said that Chandrababu Naidu had tried to stall Polavaram works by getting court stays on Polavaram canal works. He also charged Chandrababu Naidu with betraying the cause of separate category status for Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation. He also sought to know why Chandrababu Naidu was constructing Purushottapatnam project even while claiming that he would irrigate the same ayacut with water from Polavaram through gravity. How can a project such as Polavaram be completed today based on the financial estimates of 2014, he asked.
