Is it Necessary To Include Kapus in the BC List?
Visakha: Kesana Sankara Rao, the BC welfare association president on Saturday questioned the need to include Kapus in the BC list when they did not fulfill the requirements that were prescribed for it.
Just because a party’s election manifesto declared to include the Kapus in the BC list was there really a need to do so?
Speaking at a meeting of the BC community district leaders who had convened in Kirlampudi, Sankara Rao questioned the government on this issue saying “just because a party’s election manifesto declared to include the Kapus in the BC list was there really a need to do so?”
Article 340 of the Indian Constitution described OBCs as "socially and educationally backward classes", and the Government of India is enjoined to ensure their social and educational development , he explained. To include those who are developed socially, educationally and politically in the BC list would be an attempt to disagree with the Court judgements, he argued.
Speaking at the urban and district level meeting in Rajamahendravaram, Sankara Rao stated that the BCs would face a lot of challenges in the future and suggested that BC working committees should be set up from booth, village and town levels and enthusiastic youth should be enlisted to work towards strengthening them.
