IPL 2018 Time Table, Captains Of Teams

IPL 2018 Time Table, Captains Of Teams - Sakshi Post

On Wednesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the full schedule of the eleventh edition of India’s annual showpiece cricket event, the Indian Premier League. The IPL 2018 will conduct 60 matches in 9 cities over a spectacular spree of 51 days, starting April 7, 2018.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Ajinkya Rahane led-Rajasthan Royals are back into the business after serving two year bans. The champions of the inaugural edition of the competition, Rajasthan Royals will miss the services of their supposed-to-be-captain Steve Smith, who faces ban after the recent ball-tampering scandal in the third South Africa-Australia Test match in Cape Town. Steve Smith’s SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) counter-part David Warner will also miss this season’s IPL due to a similar ban from international cricket.

Of all the 60 matches that are to be played in the IPL this season, 48 matches would start at 8 pm, whereas 12 matches are to start in the afternoon, i.e, at 4 pm.

After playing seven matches each in the group stage, the top four teams among the eight would advance to the playoff stage, where the teams will contest in Qualifier 1, Eliminator and Qualifier 2 for a spot in the IPL Final, that is scheduled to be played on 27th of May. Last year, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians clinched the trophy for the record third time in IPL history.

With a comeback to the IPL arena, the CSK fanfare is basking on their glorious past under their highly successful captain, MS Dhoni. The former India captain drove the CSK to title victory on two occasions, consecutively in 2010 and 2011.

The Kolkata Knight Riders look to turn the tide in a bid to taste the IPL victory for the third time this season, with newly appointed captain Dinesh Karthik in added confidence from his last-ball six against Bangladesh in the Nidahas Trophy Final, when his scintillating innings of 29 runs from eight balls handed India the deserved trophy honours.
