Intense heat wave kills 19 in State

As many as 19 people died under the influence of a severe heat wave in the State on Thursday.

Three persons were killed each in Adilabad, Karimnagar and Warangal districts, while two died in East Godavari district. One person each succumbed to sunstroke in Mahaboobnagar, Nalgonda, Srikakulam, Krishna, Nellore, Prakasam and YSR Kadapa districts.   

Temperatures soar high and crossed 43 degrees Celsius in various parts of the state. Rentachintala in Guntur district recorded highest temperature of 47 degrees, while Ramagundam recorded 46 degrees. Hyderabad, Mahaboobnagar received 44 degrees on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Met department in Delhi said the heat wave will continue for two more days in the state. Coastal and Telangana districts will record highest temperatures in the next two days, according to weather reports.
