Anantapur: Infighting within the ranks of the Telugu Desam Party came to the fore once again in Anantapur Municipal Corporation, here on Saturday.

TDP corporators alleged that municipal commissioner Surendra Babu was not attesting his signature on certain municipal bills. The commissioner on his part alleged that TDP corporator Sarala Devi used unparliamentary language against him. Coinciding with this mud-slinging the municipal staff too boycotted work on Saturday.

It was only after the intervention of local MLA Prabhakar Choudary that that the corporators and the commissioner backed off from the mud-slinging.

It may be recalled that Sakshi daily had published in its columns about rampant corruption in the Anantapur municipal administration. While the officials indulged in corruption the elected representatives behaved irresponsibly in controlling the menace. The Sakshi news report created a flutter in the ranks of the ruling TDP and started a blame-game within the party. One group in the TDP is led by MLA Prabhakar Choudary and is supportaive of commissioner Surendra Babu while another group supports mayor Swarupa.
