Indigo Airlines Revokes Ban On JC Diwakar Reddy

TDP Anantapur MP JC Diwakar Reddy  - Sakshi Post

Budget passenger carrier IndiGo on Wednesday said it has decided to revoke the ban on ferrying TDP's Anantapur MP JC Diwakar Reddy on its flights.

"Senior IndiGo officials today met Honourable Member of Parliament Diwakar Reddy, at a lunch hosted by senior Member of Parliament Y.S. Chaudhary, to resolve the issue of Honourable Member Diwakar Reddy's ban on IndiGo flights," the airline said in a statement. "The issue is amicably resolved between the two and IndiGo has decided to lift the said ban with immediate effect and Reddy is withdrawing the case he has filed." The airline added that it has informed the Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA) about its decision.

Indigo Airlines along with six airliners, including SpiceJet and Air India, banned barred Diwakar Reddy from taking their flights after he created ruckus at the Visakhapatnam airport on June 15.

The MP had arrived late to board an IndiGo flight to Hyderabad. Denied a boarding pass, Diwakar Reddy threw a temper tantrum at the Visakhapatnam airport. He damaged a printer on the counter, abused the staff and pushed an official out of the room. He was then given a boarding pass at the intervention of Civil Aviation Minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju. The minister was in the VVIP lounge when the incident occurred.
