Tuesday was the coolest day since September 30, 2011 according to the records of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
“Most of the city was under the cover of cumulonimbus clouds on Tuesday and these clouds prevented any sun rays from reaching the surface of the earth which kept the city’s climate cool,” said Dr Y K Reddy , director (in-charge), IMD, Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, the civic department has a tough task as IMD predicted heavy rains for the next three days. As heavy rains lashed the city water logging and traffic snarls were witnessed in several part of city. Following the IMD forecast the state government on Monday decided to evacuate people from low-lying areas to safer places.
A dilapidated building collapsed on Tuesday at Basheerbagh following the incessant rains and a roof collapsed at Medchal leaving two injured.
GHMC chief city planner Devender Reddy said, “Following the alert we received from the Met department, we immediately began asking people living in dilapidated structures to vacate immediately. We demolished four such structures on Tuesday.”
