In a fit of jealously, stepmother sets daughter on fire

Guntur, In a tragic incident, a mother burnt her stepdaughter alive in Boggaram,Epur mandal of Guntur district on Saturday.

According to reports, the stepmother first poured kerosene on the victim,  Chandramma and then went on to burn her. The stepmother was jealous of the fact that her husband's agricultural land was in Chandramma's name. 

On hearing her screams, neighbours took her to the local hospital, and doctors have said that her condition is critical.  Police immediately reached the hospital after getting the information.

In a statement recorded with the police, Chandramma said that she was living with her aunt when her father came to visit them. The family had planned on visiting a temple there. But as soon as Chandramma stepped into her room to change her clothes, her stepmother poured kerosene on her and burnt her.

The police have registered a case against the stepmother who is absconding since the incident.
