If A 30-Tonne Factory Gas Leak Claims 5 Lives, Imagine How Much Havoc 350-Tonne Tundurru Factory Can Wreak?
QUESTIONS THAT YS JAGAN RAISED...
* Are the CM, Collector, Pollution Control Board not aware of the pollution of Gonteru drain?
* Are they not aware of the likely environmental impact of these aqua factories in this region?
* Why is the management of the aqua unit, where gas leakage killed five persons, not arrested so far?
YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday rushed to Mogalturu in West Godavari district, where a tragic gas leak in an aqua factory claimed five lives, and consoled the kin of the victims.
YS Jagan went to Narsapur Government Hospital, where the patients are being treated. He enquired about how the mishap occurred and interacted with the kin of the victims. He demanded that all the aqua factories be shifted to the sea coast. He said the chief minister, the district collector and the pollution control board knew fully well that there would be pollution, but gave permission to the unit.
"This is just a 30 tonne capacity factory. Imagine what will happen if the Tundurru unit, which is 350 tonne capacity unit, comes up. The locals have been agitating against the Tundurru unit for the last two years. The company that built the Mogalturu plant is constructing the Tundurru unit," YS Jagan said.
He demanded that the Government make the management pay more compensation and that it arrest the management for the death of five lives.
The incident occurred when they were cleaning a chemical tank at the park. They inhaled a poisonous gas that emanated from the tank and fell unconscious. They died soon.

The deceased were identified as Eega Edukondalu, Boddu Rambabu, Jakkasetti Praveen, Thota Srinivasa Rao and Nallam Edukondalu. The families of the victims alleged that negligence by the plant management led to the tragedy.
Locals tried to attack the Aqua park management. Police prevented them and asked to go back.
