Manmadh Rebba from Hyderabad is the first Indian athlete to get invited to participate in the ULTRAMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in Kona Hawaii, USA held from Nov 24 - 26, 2017.
This grueling race comprises a 6.2-mile swim (10km) in the rough waters of the Pacific, 263 miles (421 km) bike ride around the big island with elevation gains of around 16,000 feet and then a double marathon 52.2 miles (84 km) run through the hot lava fields.
Participation in the UltraMan World Championships is by invitation only and every year only 40 athletes get invited from all over the world. It’s a challenge that is unimaginable to many accomplished athletes. The UltraMan Hawaii World Championships is recognized as one of the most prestigious events by the international triathlon community.
Manmadh Rebba hails from Hyderabad, India. Having completed his Bachelor of Architecture degree at JNTU Hyderabad, he left for USA to pursue his Master’s degree. He is currently working as an architect / program management consultant for San Diego International Airport in USA.
Manmadh’s journey to Ultraman started with him trying to learn how to swim just three years back. He signed up for a triathlon before he knew how to swim and jumped into it and learnt to swim in 2.5 months to accomplish his first triathlon on November 10, 2013.
He has very interesting and awe-inspiring stories of how he learnt swimming-– it was the fear of water and drowning which he battled against to get into the pool. And then, he grew into an excellent swimmer. Having completed several short distance Triathlons, Manmadh aimed at finishing Ironman. His first big race was Ironman 70.3 Austin in November 08, 2015 which consists of 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 miles run.
