Hyderabad’s This New Selfie Spot Is A Safety Worry Now

HYDERABAD: The vertical garden at Khairtabad Junction which has been recently inaugurated by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has become the new selfie spot in the town. However, experts have voiced their safety concern at this spot as commuters passing by, stop their vehicles at the busy junction to capture selfies.
Motorists are also parking their vehicles on the main road or the other side of road to get good angles for selfies which is causing great inconvenience to other commuters.
According to reports, the GHMC has recently announced the extension of timing for people to walk around the junction freely. The lights and fountain at the vertical garden will be open until 2 am every day.
Musharraf Ali Faruqui , Addl Commissioner GHMC also tweeted about the extension of timings.

But experts raised their voice of safety at this junction. Urban transport expert C Ramachandraiah said to a daily, that creating selfie spot at a busy intersection is not a wise idea. He also added that the width of the footpath is not adequate for people to take selfies. Such ideas should be started where there is liberty of space.
It’s a 100% pedestrian friendly junction, people can park vehicles elsewhere, walk freely & safely from any road at the junction to this place.
