Onion Prices In Hyd May Come Down By Sankranti 2020
Hyderabad: From bigger restuarants to households, everybody in the city is facing severe shortage of onions for the first time. Reason for this was mostly due to short supply from Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Few days ago there was a dip in the prices in arrivals of Karnataka onions which were considered as Grade-II onions. On Friday and Saturday the price of the onions was Rs 110 on arrival of Maharashtra onions. But again there has been sudden shortage in the city.
Today the Malakpet market received only 2,000 quintals of onions whereas it receives 10,000 quintals of it everyday.
There has been no supply of onions from Kurnool district in AP and whatever comes from Telangana is during Rabi season i.e., between October to February.
The city is complaining about the price hike which is actually sustained for longer time. They are demanding solution from the government.
Some days ago, officials said that Hyderabad will import onions from Egypt due to which the price may go down by RS 60 to 80. However, no dip in the prices was seen.
