HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), which has undertaken the works of theme-based beautification works at various junctions across the city, will be adding more.

According to reports, a replica of eagle surrounded with greenary will be developed at IKEA flyover, a vertical garden is planned at Khairtabad flyover and a water cascade with steps at Mettuguda junction is planned Mettu means steps in Telugu.

GHMC official said to a daily that there are many unused vehicles are parked in dumpyard below the Khairtabad flyover which is becoming an eyesore for commuters passing by. So, a vertical garden is planned at that place which measures 10-feet high and 260-feet long.

"Around 14,000 plants of 10 species will be planted in the vertical garden at a cost of Rs 32 lakh," the official added.

Meanwhile, at Chintalkunta junction, the theme is based on the concept of Mahaveer Harina Vanasthali National park and Ramoji Film City which are located nearby. A statue of a cinematographer who is seen shooting a scene is placed along with small jungle and water pond in the area which provides a treat to passers by.

“The theme should spell out the significance of the area. For instance, near Sangeet theatre, replicas of musical instruments have been setup,"a GHMC official added to a daily speaking about the aim behind the idea.
