Carry Pepper Spray-TS Gov Asks Women Tahasildars

Hyderabad: Officials made a announcement on Tuesday that women tahsildars in Hyderabad and across the state should carry pepper spray to defend themselves from any attacks. This move was made after MRO Vijaya Reddy was burnt alive on November 4 by farmer Kura Suresh in her office here in Abdullapurmet.

As per reports, there are nearly 1,000 tahsildars in Telangana among which about 400 are women employees.

The president of the deputy collector's association said to a daily that at least women tahsildars can now be on guard and take precautions. So they have been asked to carry pepper sprays.

S Ramulu of Telangana Tahsildar's Association aslo spoke to daily sand said that visitors with grievances would not be allowed to carry bags if they want to meet tahsildar or any higher authority to avoid such untoward incidents.

"Visitors tend to get aggressive if their work gets held up due to various factors," M Ranjani Tahsildar in Warangal district said to the daily.

According to reports, tahsildars are also planning to install CCTV cameras so that they can keep an eye on those who are repeatedly coming to office.
