Students Protests At ICFAI Business School

Hyderabad: Students of ICFAI Business School (IBS) protested here against the rules imposed by the administration restricting movements of students. According the rules, students will not be allowed to leave campus from 9.30 am till 5 pm everyday except on Sundays and holidays.

As per the rules, the students will be allowed to exit or enter the premises twice between 9.30 am and 9.30 pm. According to the directions visitor vehicles, taxis and outside food will not be allowed inside teh campus.Checking will be done at the main gate and students are also madated to display their ID cards while netering the campus. All the events should also be concluded by 6 pm within the campus.

According to reports, students pursuing law, management and engineering courses joined the protest in large numbers and termed the rules imposed by the administration as 'regressive'. They also raised slogans against the directions and claimed that they are treated being treated like prisoners.

"How do I tolerate a security guard who comes close to my mouth just to check if I am drunk. It is outrageous and an uncomfortable story of every student at IBS Hyderabad," a student said to a daily.

According to reports, students also claimed that seeking a police intervention in an academic institution is an anti-student move.

Following the protest, institution held the discussions with students in which IBS Director, Prof S Venkat Seshaiah said that the rules are imposed to safegaurd the interests of the students. He said that the decision was taken as a preventive measure as there have been many accidents and untoward incidents in the vicinity of teh campus. He also added that for the next few days the same rules shall be followed.
