TSRTC Indefinite Strike: Alternate Arrangements By Government
Hyderabad: Around 60,000 employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) have started an indefinite strike from the midnight of Friday, October 4 in Telangana as the government had not reached an agreement with their demands.
The talks between the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of TSRTC employees and a government panel was a failure.
More than 19,000 drivers, conductors, mechanics, and supervisors went on strike, including managers, divisional managers, regional managers and executive directors at 29 depots in the Greater Hyderabad Zone are participating in this strike. With this 3,850 buses operating in the city have come to a halt.
Passengers who planned to leave for their home town ahead of Dasra festival celebrations were affected by the disruption of buses on Friday night. People who planned to visit Vijayawada, Guntur, Tirupati, Vizag and Kakinada areas of AP, as well as Bangalore, Mumbai, Shirdi, Telangana, Adilabad, and Nizamabad are worst affected by this strike.
Alternative Drivers and Conductors in TSRTC
The RTC and RTA officials planned for alternative arrangements during the TSRTC strike period and have taken steps to recruit temporary staff for depots. TSRTC decided to recruit temporary drivers and conductors who have a heavy vehicle driving license with at least 18 months of seniority and tenth-grade qualification under the supervision of Motor Vehicle Inspector, said Pandurang Naik, Commissioner of Transport, Hyderabad.
RTC executive director Venkateshwar said that RTC is also trying to operate 250 taxi buses. In addition to the 1.4 lakh vehicles in the city, they have granted permission for transportation of 50 thousand autos from various districts to the outskirts of the city.
Restrictions Over the Private Transportation Vehicles Removed
TSRTC has temporarily removed certain restrictions over transportation of more than 50 thousand Seven Seater autos in the city. Metro trains will run every 3 minutes in view of the RTC strike.
Special Metro Trains
HMR MD NVS Reddy said that Metro trains will run until 11:30 pm to accommodate commuter traffic. The 121 MMS trains also operate on major railway stations such as Secunderabad, Kachiguda, Nampally, Begumpet, Lingampally and HITEC City.
Transport officials decided to run special buses for passengers traveling to Telangana districts from various parts of the city during Dasara. 12,000 school buses will also be operated on lease.
JTC Pandurang Nayak said a special surveillance system has been set up to check the ticket fare collected by private vehicles in the city in view of the RTC workers' strike.
Special Trains In Hyderabad
Several special trains will be on the run to meet the passenger rush during TSRTC strike the final train will leave Ameerpet, LB Nagar, Miyapur and Nagole at 11:30 pm and arrive at the destination at 12:30 pm. Additional ticket counters, machines, and staff will be set up at stations along the LB Nagar-Miyapur-Nagole-HiTEC route.
"We are making arrangements to ensure that commuters do not face any difficulties in the wake of the strike," said B Varaprasad, Regional Manager, TSRTC Rangareddy Region.
Special Buses to All The Major Cities
People who are traveling to Kurnool, Anantapuram, Kadapa, Chittoor, Ongole, and Macharla can travel from the special buses arranged from CBS (Old Bus Stand). Suryapet, Kodada, Nalgonda, and Miryalguda buses are arranged from Dilsukhnagar. Buses from Hanmakonda, Warangal, Narsimpet, Parakala, Janagam, Thorur and Yadagirigutta are arranged from Uppal Crossroads. Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Medak, and Siddipet buses are available from JBS.
