Fake Assistant Director Of Sekhar Kammula Held For Cheating

Hyderabad: A man posing as the assistant director of Sekhar Kammula was arrested on Saturday for cheating people on the promise of offering roles in movies.

V Hanumanth Reddy, aka Sanjay, invited applications and photographs mostly from pre-teen girls of 12 to young women around 32, to act alongside Vijay Deverakonda in his next movie. He also gave an advertisement on an e-commerce site by sharing some his pictures with actor Vijay Deverakonda. The accused asked applicants to Whatsapp their photos to his number or email ID which were provided in the ad.

"When any aspirant shares their photos, Sanjay would demand some amount from them saying that they have to get a membership in Movie Artistes Association (MAA)." Trusting him, a man called Pradeep sent his pictures and then he was promised a role in a character named Rohan in Vijay's film, Pradeep also paid Rs 1500 to the accused for getting membership in MAA.

After receiving the amount, Sanjay stopped communicating with him which angered Pradeep. The aspiring actor then approached Sekhar Kammula and got him into the notice of the advertisements on various websites. Based on the complaint lodged by the director, the police caught hold of Sanjay and are investigating.

In the preliminary probe, it is learnt the accused also shared the advertisements on several sites posing as an assistant director Sekhar Kammula, Nandini Reddy and other well-known directors.
