Hyderabad: The stage is almost set for 21 new districts, 120 mandals and 25 revenue divisions in Telangana as Chief Minister K Chandrashekhara Rao will officially announce the list of new districts after the emergency Cabinet meeting on Monday. After the Cabinet approval, the notification is expected to be released on Monday midnight 12:12am (Tuesday beginning). As soon as the reorganization of districts is notified and at 2am, KCR is expected to sign the order appointing district collectors, SPs and JCs for the districts. Launching ceremonies are scheduled from 10am to 12noon on Tuesday as the Murat set for the new districts on auspicious Dassehra on Tuesday, October11, at 11:12am.

Hyderabad district will be the most populated in Telangana and smallest in areawise, while Kothagudem will emerge largest district areawise in the State. Ranga Reddy and Medchal (Malkajgiri) districts are ranked at second and third in terms of population.

The population is in the range of five lakh to 10lakh in 19 districts, 10lakh-15lakh in six districts, 15lakh-20lakh in three districts, above 20lakh in three more districts. With 5,43,694 population, Sircilla will be least populated district in Telangana preceded by Jangaon with 5,82,457 and Asifabad with 5,92,831.

With 8,062 sqkm area, Kothagudem is largest district followed by NagarKurnool with 6,924sqkm and Nalgonda with 6,863sqkm. Hyderabad district is spread over just 217sqkm followed by Medchal with 1,039sqkm and Warangal Urban with 1,305sqkm.

Teething problems

However, Telangana government is facing manpower shortage in the wake of new districts. But, the Chief Minister will resolve all the initial hiccups over period of time, said a senior official. The State government is going ahead with the existing employees to commence administration in the reorganised districts from Dassehra.

Deputy Director and Assistant Director cadres officials are being promoted as district heads. Officials of joint director cadre will get key posts. With each district, barring Hyderabad, being carved in-to two to four districts, finding suitable staff to head various departments like agriculture, planning, medical & health, and welfare has become a big task.

In most of the cases, second and third rung cadre have been elevated to top rung positions and district head of department responsibilities.

With each district, barring Hyderabad, being carved in-to two to four districts, finding suitable staff to head various departments like agriculture, planning, medical & health, and welfare has become a big task.

The reorganization of districts will ensure that two lakh to four lakh families will be in each district. Every family details will be available in the data accessible to district collector. This can ensure the every rupee spent by the government will reach every beneficiary directly.
