Hyderabad: L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited has begun trail runs of the Metro train on the Secunderabad-Begumpet section - a chunk of the Nagole-Ameerpet corridor.

On Monday, Chief Electrical Inspector, Government of India, D.V.S. Raju conducted statutory inspection of the Overhead Electric Traction System (OETS) between Begumpet and Mettuguda Metro stations and accorded sanction for its “Energisation”. The traction system is fed from the 132Kv/25Kv Receiving Substation (RSS) of the Hyderabad Metro Rail at Uppal depot. Incoming supply to this RSS is drawn from 220Kv/132Kv main substation of TRANSCO.

Following the sanction, the trail runs also called oscillation tests began between Mettuguda and Begumpet stations on Thursday. It may be recalled that the sections from Nagole to Mettuguda and Miyapur to SR Nagar have already been energised and trial runs too were completed.

Metro rail from Nagole to Ameerpet and Miyapur to Ameerpet are scheduled to begin in November. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 30-km stretch spread across the two metro corridors on November 28 when he arrives here for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

The Metro section between Miyapur and Ameerpet, a distance of 13 km, and another 17-km-long stretch between Ameerpet and Nagole will begin operations in the first phase.
