Hyderabad Girl’s Suicide Leaves Sathyabama University In A Mess
Chennai: Tension prevailed at Sathyabama University campus here in Rajiv Gandhi Salai after a Hyderabad girl Radha Mounika Reddy, a first year student, committed suicide on Wednesday after being chided by the college staff.
The students of the college, who were staging a protest, went on a rampage setting the college property on fire. The police personnel and fire and rescue services rushed to the scene and are trying to bring the situation under control.
According to the police, Radha Mounika Reddy, a native of Hyderabad city, was studying B.Sc computer science in the university. On Wednesday morning, she was caught copying and asked to leave the exam hall at 10.30 AM. Insulted over being chided in the exam hall, she went to her hostel room and hanged self. The girl also sent a message to her brother Rakesh, who was studying in the same university, before taking the extreme step.
Hours after her death, angry students vandalised the property and burnt whatever came their way. Around 8.30 PM, the situation went out of control when some of the students set fire to a bus outside the campus.
