Huge Crowds Throng YS Jagan’s Rythu Deeksha Site
Huge crowd of supporters and farmers thronged the Deeksha site of YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Day 2 of his Rythu Deeksha. The Deeksha sitem near the mirchi yard in Nallapadu drew large number of farmers despite the officials declaring a holiday to the market yard.
On Tuesday, YS Jagan began his dharna by offering a garland to a bust of YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The dharna is being organised to
demand minimum prices for the agriculture produce. The YSR Congress leaders say that the Telugu Desam government has failed to safeguard the interests of chilli farmers following slump in the prices from Rs14,000 per quintal last year to Rs4,000 per quintal this season. Due to the unfair price of mirchi, farmers ransacked the office at mirchi yard and demanded for the minimum price. Some farmers committed suicide over the unfair price. YS Jagan visited Guntur mirchi yard and enquired about the problems faced by farmers. Moved by the woes of the farmers, Jagan has decided to sit in deeksha to exert pressure on the government.
Several farmers are meeting YS Jagan in drones to recount their tales of woe. They said that the government was not taking care of the farmers and their interests.
