How long should we wait for a roof over our heads?

Khammam: Demanding that the poll promises made by the centre and the state should be implemented, the Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinvas Reddy and Telangana YSRCP working president began a two-day protest fast here on Saturday.

Though it has been over sixteen months since the KCR government had come to power they have not been able to fulfill their poll promises till now, he noted angrily. They have so far provided only 400 houses in a one constituency; at this rate how many years will the poor have to wait for a roof over their head, he questioned. He demanded that everyone without a house in Khammam should be provided with one.
The minister pointed out that the CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s government had provided 4,600 ‘house pattas’ to the poor in the district and since then no other government had given the poor a thought. The minister said that if this government did not fulfill its poll promises then he would not hesitate to fast unto death.
The YSRCP party will always be ready to take up any fight for the people the minister said. The people of Khammam, the party supporters and leaders gathered in large numbers to express their support.
