Hotel Charges 1 Rupee Extra For A Pinch Of Salt
Hyderabad: A restaurant at Somajiguda has charged Re1 to a customer for the extra salt he requested. The customer who went to Headquarters restaurant at Raj Bhavan road with family on Tuesday requested the waiter for the salt for the lime soda he ordered.
During the checkout, the customer was shocked to see the bill as they included price for the extra salt. He paid the bill and later approached the Legal Metrology department complaining about the strange billing item. But they failed to take action on the restaurant as the salt they served was in the loose form. Legal action will be taken only on the packed goods according to the Packaged Goods and Commodities Act.
"We get complaints from customers about over charging and we take action against the violators. But for something like salt served loose and charged, there is nothing that we can do," an officer Jagan Mohan Reddy from the department said.
Meanwhile, the restaurant manager said that it was due to technical error. “As the restaurant was opened recently, the waiters failed to check it since it was the last bill made at11pm,” said the restaurant manager.
Later, the restaurant offered to pay back the customer a sum of Rs150 which is the price of the lime soda. But the customer denied the offer.
