Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy supervised the rescue operations of the collapsed two-storey building of City Light Hotel on Rashtrapati Road in Secunderabad.
He inquired about the incident and asked the police to submit a report. GHMC Commissioner Krishna Bababua and PC Anurag Sharma briefed the CM on the tragedy.
According to latest reports coming in, 12 people have been killed so far while 35 people have suffered injuries. The condition of eight persons is said to be critical.
As many as 20 GHMC workers were inside the hotel at the time of the collapse. So far, 10 workers have been rescued. Police suspect that many people are trapped under the debris. There might be a gas leak due to the presence of cylinders under the rubble, a police officer said.
