‘Honour’ killing: Woman strangles daughter to death

Vijayawada: In yet another case of honour killing, a woman had killed her daughter in Vijayawada. Bibi Jaan, had been living with her family in Vambay colony in Vijayawada. She had two daughter, of which the second daughter, Sajma fell in love with a boy belonging to a different religion. Bibi who was afraid the family’s reputation will be marred, she tried to convince Sajma to forget her love and shifted the family to Narasaraopet in Guntur district. But this was in vain as Sajma refused to listen to her mother and they shifted back to Vijayawada. Later when Sajma continued to be in a relationship with her lover, Bibi decided to kill her.

Bibi sent her husband out and strangled Sajma to death. When her husband returned home, Bibi lied to him saying she died of stomachache. Funeral was also planned at Kanchikacherla in Krishna district. However, Sajhma’s lover suspected foul play and informed the incident to the police, who started investigating. They sent the body for postmortem and was confirmed that it was a murder. Police have arrested Bibi and are interrogating.
