Hits And Misses Of Modi In 2016

Hits.... and  - Sakshi Post

Year 2016 would surely go down as the year of Narendra Modi. Indian Prime Minister managed to stay on the headlines throughout the year. He even managed to trend on a day when the whole world was following the US election result by demonetising the high denomination notes.

Demonetisation: Demonetisation has made the whole world sit and take notice. A daring decision that turned high denomination notes into scrap overnight, has catapulted Modi to the headlines. With elections round the corner in UP and Punjab, will Modi's most daring yet gamble pay off? Let's wait and see how things pan out in 2017.

Surgical Strikes: Surgical strikes by Indian Army deep inside Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir has eliminated over 40 Pak terrorists in one swift action. That Modi managed to keep this operation under wraps from Pakistan made him an overnight hero. To cover up its shame, Pakistan had to deny that there was ever a surgical strike.

But the year was also an year of gaffes for Modi. Here are some:

Birthday Wishes 96 Days Before the Birthday: His birthday greetings to Afghan president Ashraf Ghani a good 96 days before the actual birthday. A surprised Ashraf Ghani had to remind Modi that his birthday fell on May 19.

Badal as India's Mandela: Modi compared Prakash Singh Badal, the chief minister of Punjab, with Nelson Mandela. Modi was trolled on Twitter for hs comments. Modi did neither take back his words nor defend them.
