Hijras to decide results in some areas in Hyd?
After the Election Commission of India has given transgenders an independent identity by letting them state their gender as ‘others’ on ballot forms, more than 600 voters registered in the Greater Hyderabad city limits.
It is known fact that EC has taken the decision to recognise the “other sex” was taken after receiving representations from various individuals and interest groups. The EC has decided to allow eunuchs and transsexuals to state their gender as ‘O’, or ‘other’, in the voter lists.
651 hijras have been registered in the Greater Hyderabad city limits and this number may increase when the registration process is completed.
Many believe that the win and defeat of candidates will be depended on these 'others' voters in some areas.
'Others' list voters registered highest in Quthbullapur constituency (88). And the figures are 67 and 65 from LB Nagar and Serilingampally respectively.
It is remains to be seen which candidate they will choose?
