Highlights of YS Jagan's address at Maha Dharna in Vizag
YS Jagan addressed massive crowd that gathered at the collectorate in Visakhapatnam to protest against the verbal gymnastics and number jugglery on farm loan waiver. Here are the highlights of his speech:
* The farmers who lost 65.98 lakh acres of crops due to Hudhud, not a single rupee was given as crop insurance as farmers did not pay their loan installment believing that Chandrababu would waive off loans.
* Has Chandrababu done anything for the fisher-folk, YS Jagan asks, crowds roars their support to YSRCP chief.
* YS Jagan calls for public support to the efforts aimed at taming Chandrababu Naidu.
* This is only the beginning. More protests would follow, warns YS Jagan. He thanks everyone for supporting the Maha Dharna.
* He is deceiving the DWCRA members too. In the The first SLBC meet after he took over, the total loans were of the order of Rs 87,612 crores of farm loans and and Rs 14204 crore worth Dwcra loans.
* Now, Chandrababu has changed tack and is now says he would waive crop loans and not farm loans. He is not even talking of DWCRA loans now.
* He had promised jobs to the youth. He now says that he had never said that he would get them government jobs.
* There were 43.11 lakh welfare pensions at the time of his assension. Since October, even the existing pension are not being given. While Rs 3000 crore were needed for paying pensions, the budgetary allocation is only 1300 crore. Which means pensions worth roughly Rs 2400 crore have been cut.
* While Rs 2400 crore is needed for fee reimbursement, Chandrababu Naidu has not allocated even a single rupee.
* Jagan announces the next phase of protest. Says hunger strike would be organised on January 6 and 7. We will not rest till all farm loans are waived, says Jagan.
* Hudhud cyclone relief work by the TDP was shoddy and insensitive. The cyclone victims were thrown food packets as if crumbs were thrown at dogs. What Chandrababu did while staying at Vizag was zilch.
* When at least Rs 5000 were asked for rehabilitation of Hudhud hit families, he had flatly refused. He had given nothing to the people.
* The massive support to the dharnas shows the anger of the people. They have braved heat and sun to join the protest.
* What he said today is diametrically opposite to what he had said at the time of the elections. He had promised that all the farm and Dwcra loans would be waived. Farm loan waiver was the first assurance he gave in his party pamphlets.
* Now that the elections are over, he has changed tack and has gone back on every promise he had made to the people, farmers, women, students and youth.
