Highest Run Chase in International T20 History: AUS vs NZ T20 Tri Series 2018
Auckland: In what is being dubbed as a historic feat in a cricket match, Australia beat New Zealand by five wickets in T20 match scoring a huge total of 245. In all, two records were created in the match. The run chase is the most successful in T20 Internationals history. Another being New Zealand scoring the highest in a T20 International match.
Martin Guptill led the New Zealand campaign in the match by scoring a whopping 105 runs off 54 balls. He led the team to an enviable score of 243 and everyone was of the belief that it was near impossible for Australia to chase such a huge target in 20 overs. But to everyone's surprise they stormed to victory with 7 balls to spare.
Earlier in 2013, West Indies chased 236 runs against South Africa, but now Australia overtook the score and set a new record. Australia dominated the match most part with the openers setting the momentum for the win. David Warner scored 59 runs in 24 balls while his partner D'Arcy Short scored 76 runs of 44 balls.
With this win, Australia has cruised to the finals of the Tri Series and remains undefeated in the series till now. Apart from Australia and New Zealand, England is the third team to be playing the series. With Australia in final, it is now up to the other two countries to fight it out to find place in the final.
