High alert in Tirumala

High alert was sounded and intense searches were taken up in the temple town of Tirupati on Thursday evening following tip-off that bombs could have been placed in the the holy town.

A search operation was immediately mounted and a team of police personnel and four bomb detection and disposal squad members were also pressed into service.
The search operations were conducted in Alipiri, Annaprasad canteen, Srivari temple, Tirupati railway station and bus-stand.
