Heavy Rains In Mumbai Disrupts Normal Life
Mumbai: Incessant rains in India’s economic capital Mumbai left normal life disrupted. Waterlogged roads, railway tracks, and airport premises caused several trains and flights to run late. Low-lying areas in Mumbai were inundated as heavy rains hit the city since Friday morning. School and office-going people faced severe hardships due to traffic jams. Several Western and Central railway sub-urban trains are running several hours late.
Due to bad weather conditions, several domestic and international flights are running almost an hour late. However officials clarified that flights are not going to be diverted or cancelled.
Officials are continuously monitoring the condition. Water is flowing over the Sion-Kurla railway track halting the train traffic on the track. Nearby districts of Mumbai like Thane, Palghar and Raighar are also experiencing incessant rains causing traffic problems in all routes which leads to Ahmedabad, Pune, Nasik, Goa from Mumbai. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that heavy rains are likely to lash Konkan region and Mumbai in the next 24-48 hours.
Maharashtra government alerted the police, fire brigade and NDRF departments as a precautionary measure.
