HC adjourns CBI JD Lakshmi Narayana transfer petition

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday admitted a petition that seeks continuation of Lakshmi Narayana as the CBI Joint Director (JD) in the state.

After admitting the petition, the court directed the petitioner to state if the transfer of the CBI JD would come under the purview of the High Court.

The court then made it clear that the transfer of CBI officials comes under the purview of the Centre and directed the petitioner to approach Delhi High Court or Supreme Court. The court adjourned the hearing after the petitioner sought more time from the court. The court directed the petitioner to file a supplementary petition within a week.

It may be recalled here that Kutumba Rao, a journalist filed a petition to stop the transfer orders issued to CBI JD Lakshmi Narayana.

Lakshmi Narayana was relieved of his services on June 10 after his 7-year deputation ended.
