Hand-Cuffing Farmers: TRS In A Spot, Faces Flak

The issue of shackling farmers arrested in the case relating to the attack on Khammam agriculture market yard is drawing alround condemnation.

The Congress and the Telugu Desam have staged dharnas and rasta rokos at various places and termed TRS government's decision to handcuff the farmers is barbaric. Dharnas and rasta rokos were organised at several places in the state.

Meanwhile, T JAC chairperson J Kodandaram came down heavily agaisnt the Government's decision. Speaking at a protest organised in Hyderabad to oppose shifting of dharna chowk, he said the TRS Government was trampling the democratic rights of the people of the state.

Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar said the TRS leaders like Tummala Nageswara Rao will be handcuffed just as the farmers were handcuffed. He demanded that the Government immediately withdraw the cases foisted on the farmers.

Even TRS leader and Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy admitted that handcuffing the farmers was not right. He said he would ensure that action is taken against those resorting to over enthusiasm. The police top brass suspendd to AR SIs in connection with the incident.
