Guntur Road Accident: Iraqi Student Dies

Vijayawada: An Iraqi student died in a road accident in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur district late on Sunday, police said on Monday.

Saad Abdul Bari Zabeth, a Ph.D. student of Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur district, was killed when he was knocked down by a bus near Guntur town. According to police, he was going to the town on his motorbike. His two friends were accompanying him on another bike.

A bus of the state-owned Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corp (APSRTC) hit his two-wheeler from the rear at Gaddipadu on the outskirts of Guntur. He died on the spot. Saad, who was doing Ph.D. in law, had submitted his thesis and was expecting the degree in another month. According to his friends, he had shared this news with his parents in Iraq over telephone a few hours before the tragedy.

The Iraqi student had done his post-graduate from Pune before enrolling in Acharya Nagarjuna University. (IANS)
