Groom Leaves Girl With Bruises and Swollen Face On Wedding Night

Chittoor: A newly wed bride was thrashed mercilessly by her husband on their first night requiring her to be rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

The incident took place on Friday, in Motharangannapalli of Gangadhara Nellore mandal. Parents of the bride, Shailaja, heard shouts of help from her room. Her father, Muni Krishna Reddy directed the relatives to break open the doors of the room where they found Shailaja with severe injuries and swollen face. On seeing the bride's father, the bridegroom, Rajesh, escaped from the room.

According to the relatives, the absconding groom worked as a teacher while the bride was pursuing MBA. They were married on Friday. Shailaja's parents lodged a police complaint. Rajesh is in police custody.
