Govt has no commitment on local body polls: Vijayamma
“We will go to the people with a unity and prove YSR Congress Party’s strength and capabilities,” said Y S Vijayamma, honorary president of YSRCP.
Addressing the YSRCP meeting at Ghatkesar as part of campaign in the local body elections on Friday, Vijayamma said the Government has no commitment to hold local body elections with fear of defeat. She cautioned the party workers against the possible malpractices by the ruling Congress party in the elections. She also advised the party cadre not to take the elections as non-serious.
Stating that many villages in the State were reeling under severe crisis and there was none to respond to the woes of the people, Vijayamma asked the party cadre to go to the rescue of the people to ensure victory in the elections. She said the YSRCP flag should be hoisted on every panchayat building.
She lashed out at the State government for failure to protect the farmers who were in distress. There was no support price for the farmers’ produce. Many industries have announced power holiday and many more downed their shutters throwing the hundreds of workers on the roads, Vijayamma said.
Vijayamma expressed serious concern over increasing assaults on women and the State had a dubious distinction on sexual offences. The Government was concentrating more on liquor than drinking water. She alleged that in an unprecedented way, the main Opposition TDP and the ruling Congress were going hand in hand. She asked why Jagan case investigation was delayed even after two years. Earlier, the meeting paid tributes to the deceased of Uttarakhand floods.
