Govt earmarks 3,782 acres for APMDC in Anantapur - Sakshi Post


The state government has assigned 3,782 acres of forest land to AP Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC).

The government issued orders to this effect earmarking the land at Nemakallu in Bommanahal mandal of Anantapur district, said Minister Raghuveera Reddy on Thursday. He said the AP Mineral Development Corporation and KIOCL, a subsidiary of the Central Government would jointly oversee the mining activity. Mining would be commenced after setting up factories and about 3500 persons would be employed directly and 10,000 people indirectly, Raghuveera Reddy said.

A MoU would be signed by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Mining Minister Galla Arunakumari with chairmen of State and Central Mining corporations in a week. Replying to a question, the minister said 50 per cent of the iron ore would be allocated to Vizag steel plant. The Forest Department would be given alternate site within the district. Kudiremukh Iron Ore Company Limited (KIOCL) CMD Malai Chaterjee, district Joint Collector Satyanarayana were among those present at the meeting.
