Governor in Delhi, to meet Rajnath today

Against the backdrop of growing friction between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments over alleged phone tapping and cash-for-vote controversy, Governor E S L Narasimhan is in Delhi for a meeting with the Union Home Ministry.

Narasimhan, who is the common Governor for the two states post-bifurcation, would attend a meeting on Friday morning.
TDP, which rules in Andhra Pradesh, and TRS, the ruling party of Telangana, are engaged in a bitter war of words on alleged phone tapping, cash-for-vote case and the demand of invocation of section 8 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
The section 8 empowers Governor to assume law and order powers in the common capital of Hyderabad. The feud escalated in the last couple of days in the wake of reports that Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi had communicated his opinion to the Governor on invocation of section 8.
The reports came in the wake of AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's petition to the Prime Minister, seeking a direction to Governor to use powers under section 8. Telangana CM, K Chandrasekhar Rao, has maintained that law and order is a state subject and Hyderabad is integral part of Telangana.
