Google Doodle On India’s First Woman Advocate Cornelia Sorabji

New Delhi: Today is the 151st birth anniversary of India's first female advocate Cornelia Sorabji. The search engine giant - Google honoured her with a doodle to mark her special day. Sorabji was born in Nashik on November 15, 1866, and was the first woman to study law at the Oxford University. She is considered as a pioneer who opened the doors of legal profession for women. The doodle was created by Jasjyot Singh Hans, who created an illustration that shows Sorabji in front of the Allahabad High Court.

"On what would have been her 151st birthday, we celebrate Cornelia Sorabji for breaking that first glass ceiling and for her persistence in the face of great adversity," Google said in its blog. Sorabji's parents Sorabji Karsedji and Francina Ford questioned societal norms and established many schools for girls in Pune.
