Godavari Pushkarams: Boat Mails to loved ones in heaven

Rajahmundry: Hindus have a strong belief in the concept of afterlife. They believe that the spirits remain in heaven and look upon their loved ones on earth and the offerings from earth are accepted wholeheartedly by them.

And one of the ways to reach out to their loved ones on heaven is through the boat mails. According to Hindu tradition a message one sends on a boat reaches their ancestors in heaven and brings peace to their spirits.

With Strong belief in the aforementioned, many pilgrims are floating small boats with diyas, Vermilion and turmeric powder in it in the Godavari Pushkaram in hope that their message reaches their ancestors.
