Godavari in spate near Bhadrachalam - Sakshi Post

Parts of Andhra Pradesh, like the rest of the country, swing from droughts to floods. While some parts of the state have been hit by poor inflows of water impacting agriculture, the river Godavari at Bhadrachalam got flooded with water from Maharashtra flowing into it.

The first warning signal has already been sounded to the public after the the water level reached 43 feet by Tuesday evening. The second danger alert might soon be issued at Bhadrachalam as the river continues to receive heavy flood waters from the Taliperu project and Sabari river. The water level has now touched an alarming high of 46.6 feet.
Meanwhile, the river Pranahitha is in spate and over 20 villages are in the danger of getting submerged. About a hundred affected families were shifted to safer places. Many villages got completely cut off from the outside world and life in many other parts of the district are likely to get affected if water levels do not abate.
If the overflow continues, it would submerge many villages near by the river.
