Girl Set Ablaze In Lallaguda: Did Karthik Attempt Suicide A Week Ago?

Did Karthik, who killed his former lover Sandhyarani by setting her ablaze in Secunderabad's Lallaguda area on Thursday night, attempt a suicide a week ago?

If Karthik's mother Urmila is to be believed, he tried to end his life a week ago after Sandhyarani started moving away from him. Talking to a media organisation in the wake of the arrest of her son, she said he knew Sandhyarani for quite some time and Sandhyarani often came to her house.

Terming her son an obstinate person, she said he used to give all his income to Sandhya. However, distance grew between them for the past few weeks. She claims she had also advised her son to forget Sandhya and move on.

She said her son should get maximum punishment and advised the youth not to resort to violent acts. She said she can understand the pain and the loss of Sandhyarani's mother. Urmila also said that she herself took her son to the police station and encouraged him to give up.

Karthik was stalking Sandhyarani for quite sometime. Though she entertained him for sometime, she felt she should move on as he was a unstable. When he began stalking her, Sandhyarani had lodged a complaint with the owner of Lucky Traders, where both were working. The owner reprimanded Karthik. Unable to bear this, Karthik set her on fire on Thursday night in Lallaguda area. She died in the hospital while under treatment. The police said a case has been booked against Karthik under sections 307, 354 D of the Indian Penal Code and the SC, ST Atrocities Prevention Act.
